A Statement from the Refugee Education Center Concerning Developments in Afghanistan

We at the Refugee Education Center are saddened and dismayed by the recent destabilization and violence taking place in Afghanistan and the growing humanitarian crisis unfolding daily. We wish to convey our strongest support and well wishes to those working tirelessly to ensure the safety of Afghans fleeing this crisis – those in Kabul supporting evacuation efforts and those in the U.S. and across the globe using their voices and authority to demand and ensure that every human seeking safety and refuge has the right to do so.  

To those who have emigrated from Afghanistan and now call West Michigan home, we offer you our support and well wishes of safety for your family members and friends who are caught in the middle of this crisis.  

To our supporters, partners, and broader West Michigan community, please know that we at the Refugee Education Center stand ready to support all Afghans who have endured hardships, sought refuge, and now seek to call West Michigan home.
