Back-to-School Backpack Drive 2020

Backpack Drive Update

Thank you to the dozens of community supporters who joined us on October 24 and who donated over $8,000 worth of school supplies, personal protection equipment, and funds to purchase additional supplies!

Backpack Drive 2020

Saturday, October 24, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm

Refugee Education Center + Fulton Street Farmers Market

With schools returning to in-class sessions through hybrid learning, the Refugee Education Center is collecting backpacks and school supplies for our K-12 Project Faulu students. We want every student to start in-person schooling on the right foot. That’s why we give every refugee student a backpack filled with supplies so they are safe, equipped, and ready to study! Would you consider joining us in preparing local students for school?

Individual students need the following bundle of school supplies:

  • 1 Gender-Neutral Backpack

  • 3-5 Notebooks

  • 3-5 Folders

  • Pencils

  • Erasers

  • Blue or Black Pens

  • 1 Basic Calculator

  • 1 Gender-Neutral Water Bottle

Want to Help Keep Students Safe?

The Refugee Education Center is also collecting travel-sized hand sanitizer, hand-sanitizing and surface wipes, and cloth or surgical facemasks. A big thank you to our supporters who have already donated a number of facemasks for the students!

There will be a designated drop-off spot in our front parking lot and at the front of the Farmers Market for backpacks and additional safety supplies.

We can’t wait to see you on October 24!
