New Year, New Name: Introducing Graduate + Grow

To kick off 2021, the Refugee Education Center is celebrating the rebranding of our High School Transitions Program to the Graduate + Grow program!

The new name was spurred by confusion with the former name, as the word transitions has another meaning in the education and special education sector. Our new name clears up any potential confusion and more accurately highlights the two main outcomes we strive for: for each high school student we serve to achieve academic success and to prepare them for life’s next steps.

High school success and graduation are a primary goal of the program but not the only measure of success. We hope that each student is prepared and confident to begin the next phase of their journey and be active, participating community members. Growing and flourishing in their new American home.

Through this program, our team provides individualized support for high school-aged students of refugee backgrounds. Students receive age-out support, graduation plans, mentorship, and guidance to prepare them to graduate with a traditional high school diploma and for a successful transition into a career, trade school, and/or post-secondary education.
