Michigan College Access Network Awards Grant to the Refugee Education Center
On September 2, 2020, the Refugee Education Center was honored to receive a $10,000 surprise grant from the Michigan College Access Network (MCAN). The grant was given because the Refugee Education Center is “dedicated to increasing college readiness, participation, and completion in Michigan, particularly among low-income students, first-generation college-going students, and students of color.”
This funding will support our High School Transitions* program, which actively works one-on-one with local refugee students to ensure they have everything they need to graduate successfully from high school. We’re grateful for our community partners, who help us create a more equitable and sustainable West Michigan for all.
*The High School Transitions program is now the Graduate + Grow program.
